FRESh, Fintry Renewable Energy Show, is hosted and organised by Fintry Development Trust and is run on a bi-annual basis. The last FRESh was a two day show held in March 2012. Over the course of the two days we had a range of events. Click here to see the programme of events.
We were delighted that a range of talented speakers participated in FRESh 2012: Evan Williams, Caroline Julian, Tom Black and Dr Geoff Williams all shared their knowledge and experiences.
Moving conversations topic was a hot debate: ‘Power to the people – the citizen and energy independence’. This proved an educational and entertaining event as each of our speakers: Maitland Mackie, Andy Wightwan, Ian Cook and Max Carcas, chaired magnificently by Louise Batchelor, tried to convince the audience of the strength of their arguments, each armed with an entertaining clip from the Scottish Screen Archive.
Additionally our Open Doors event allowed participants to view a range of renewable heating systems – Air Source Heat pump, Ground Source Heat Pump and a Biomass pellet boiler – which all have been retro fitted in to local homes – in action. Our renewable installers’ gallery featured micro wind turbine installers, domestic and commercial renewable heat, biomass heating and more. Visits to Earlsburn Windfarm, allowed participants to get up close to the Fintry turbine. It was also a chance to view FEET or Fintry Energy Efficient Transport, buy local produce at our food and gift market and sample our range of kids activities with children learning woodland skills and enjoying recycled art.
