Sustainable Transport ‘Go to Guide’

Our ‘Go to Guide’ explains how you can travel around the local area using Fintry’s sustainable transport methods. All these methods are available to be utilized both Fintry residents and visitors to the area.

Fintry’s forms of low carbon transport

  • FEET or Fintry Energy Efficient Transport – is the Fintry community car club. Once a person has joined and become an approved member of FEET (membership is not limited to Fintry residents) they have access to both the FEET cars as and when they require. Members can take the FEET cars to any destination they wish within the UK.
  • Cycle Fintry – is the Fintry Community bike club membership entitles you to full access to both our standard and electric bikes, our equipment bank and our bike maintenance workshop.
  • DRT or Direct responsive transport – This is the latest innovation in public transport, the service operates within rural Stirlingshire to connect Fintry to existing public transport links. Click here to view Fintry’s DRT area  All journeys taken under the DRT service are required to be booked in advance. Currently FDT is subsidizing the transportation of Fintry pupils attending after school activities at Balfron High – please contact the DRT on 0771-0800-067 for more information.
  • Fintry Car Share Club – Fintry Development Trust has teamed up with Stirling council to connect Fintry lifts and shares. Create an account at Stirling Liftshare.com and connect with those across the Stirling council region. It directly links drivers and passengers to provide a mechanism for low carbon and sustainable travel.

Destinations

Need advice on how to get to local destinations using low carbon transport.

Stirling

  •  FEET or Fintry Energy Efficient Transport
  • Fintry Car Share Club
  • DRT – Under Fintry’s DRT region you can travel to local bus links in both Kippen and Balfron, this should take roughly 30 minutes to Stirling Bus Station. Alternatively you can use the DRT as a taxi to take you all the way to Stirling.

Edinburgh

  • Following the same directions as Stirling you can either travel to Edinburgh by train or bus.

Glasgow

  • FEET or Fintry Energy Efficient Transport
  • Fintry Car Share Club
  • DRT –  Under Fintry’s DRT region you can travel to local bus links at Balfron and Killearn or alternatively you can use the DRT as a taxi and travel to Milngavie train station or Glasgow itself.  From both Balfron and Killearn there are regular buses to Glasgow this should take roughly
    one hour. If you travel to Milngavie train station by DRT or bus there are also regular trains in to Glasgow City Centre.
